

Eventually, Knights simply became soldiers and anyone could fight in a battle. Then, the horse and cavalry were replaced by jeeps and tanks. In the late 18th and 19th centuries, the Knight, with his sword and shield, became obsolete and was replaced by gunpowder and bullets. They carried their sword and their shield to war and that was all a great Knight needed (obviously there were other weapons but these were the core).
